So, in terms of food, I like just about everything. My mother-in-law occasionally refers to me as Mikey (like the Life cereal Mikey) only because I’ll eat just about anything she serves without complaint. Actually, it’s just because I’m polite enough not to tell her that the pumpkin pie she made with salt instead of sugar was really pretty awful. She’s a great cook otherwise, as I’ve mentioned on the Peach Tree post. It’s a good thing she doesn’t read my blog. 🙂
But the point I was trying to make was that there’s one flavor I just can’t stand, and it’s cinnamon. In a pumpkin pie, it’s ok. It’s got all those other flavors to mingle with (hopefully salt isn’t one of them). But alone.. GROSS!
One of my very good friends is a big fan of cinnamon. If it had a Facebook fan page, she’d “like” it. When she found out that I didn’t like cinnamon, she became offended on behalf of cinnamon. “Cinnamon didn’t do anything to you!” she’d say.
I knew I was in trouble when, for my birthday, she gave me a very, very, very, very big gift basket – all full of cinnamon-flavored products. Cinnamon toothpaste, Red Hots candy, cinnamon tea, cinnamon-bark stirrers for my coffee, and some Cinnabons, among other things. Surely, she reasoned, if I am polite enough to eat a slice of salty pumkpin pie, then I would be too polite to refuse a cinnamon gift basket. And then I would see that cinnamon is a-ok!
This is the type of friends I have.
I did accept the gift basket – enthusiastically, in fact. And when she left, my next door neighbor became the owner of a gift basket full of cinnamony goodness – minus the Cinnabons.

You can come back every 24 hours or so and collect them again. After a while though, they’ll start to dry up. I’ll try and update them every so often, but if you can’t wait for me – definitely visit the FT groups listed at the bottom of the FG Mart page. 🙂
