In this post I review Bush Whacker, Gummi Farm, Zen Garden, Lucky Train, and Home Sweet Home Online. I’m always on the look out for new Facebook games to try, especially when my favorite Zynga games are too buggy to play (all the time). There seems to be a new game out every day, but most of them are not mentioning. Recently, I find myself playing these games more often than any other. I hope you enjoy them too.

Bush Whacker, by DJ Arts

Here's me, hunting down the elusive cactus monster! Also, I have kitty ears!

If you’ve ever played a Legend of Zelda game, you’re familiar with the concept of cutting down bushes for goodies. Well, this game is ALL about that. Even if you’re not a Zelda fan (or don’t know what I’m talking about) you may enjoy running around and cutting down bushes to find their hidden treasures. This vividly-colored game has you going from map to map collecting gems, money, and customization items for your character and for your home. Each map also has hidden puzzle pieces. Find all the pieces, and you can unlock a little critter for your zoo. The critters themselves are cute in an ugly sort of way (or is that ugly in a cute sort of way?) and the humor in this game is very tongue-in-cheek, which is my sort of humor.  There’s always plenty to do.. including repeatable “quests” to find this or that thing hidden in bushes. Even the quests have a sort of “World of Warcraft” feel to them. Don’t worry if you don’t know what I’m talking about. You’ll like this game, especially if you’re a 30-something roleplaying video game enthusiast like me. Follow this link to check out Bushwacker…

Gummy Farm

Nothing gummy here, but the animals are cute...

This game may LOOK like Playfish’s Country Story game, but the similarities end at the visual. Gummy Farm has a very unique system of play that you will either love or hate.  The crops regrow after you plant them, which is nice because they’re pure profit after their initial investment. This game also has quests in which you fill orders for certain crops. These quests are a big chunk of XP so they’re worth doing. Plants don’t wither either, so you can leave your farm unattended without worries. Of course, the more often you visit, the better it is for you. This IS a crop-stealing game, but I don’t think people do it that much. At least, I don’t. It doesn’t seem worth it. Also, I don’t really understand why it’s called Gummy Farm since there’s no gummies in it. Here’s a tip if you decide to play this game: Plant more wheat and cherry trees than you need, and use the extra crops to feed your neighbors animals. You lose the crops but the xp is nice. Zen Garden

A Zen Garden to Remember...

The premise of this one is very simple: Grow plants and sell them for profit. What’s different about this game is the quality of the art. Just take a look at the picture on the right. I wish that were my garden. The Add-Neighbor functionality is also very nice. All the inviting is done in-game, so no need to pester people with requests and wall posts. I have high hopes for this game. Unfortunately, this game is so new that there isn’t much to do beyond the straightforward. At the time of this writing, gifting doesn’t work but I imagine that when the game is more mature, it will have some very beautiful gifts. This one’s a game to keep an eye on, for sure. Lucky Train, by A Bit Lucky

An example of a train filling with passengers...

I’ve been playing this one for a while now. It’s a very unique take on social interaction. You have a train station in the center of a town. You send trains to your friends, and fill trains that come to you with the inhabitants of your town. Each building in your town generates passengers. The amount of money you get per person depends on what sort of building generated him (or her). The more stops the train has on its journey, the more money it can make, etc. It’s a fun game, but you may have to see it for yourself to really understand what’s going on. You need a lot of friends for this game.. or at least a moderate amount of friends that have a lot of friends.  Follow this link to check out Lucky Train…

Home Sweet Home Online, by Big Blue Bubble

My little workers fixing up my new home. The stuff in blue is pending.

I played the download version of this game oh so long ago.. and it’s similar, but updated for online/Facebook play. In this, you play an interior decorator who, what else? Decorates homes! In this version, you have one home to decorate (your own) but many rooms to do. After you select what items you want to go into your home, you set your three miniature works upon the task of building each furnishing from scratch. Building takes time, so you can either leave and come back – or better yet – go to the in-game arcade and play games to earn experience and cash that you can use to fund future upgrades to your home. Here’s a tip for levelling up fast . Go to the Arcade, and try “Tool Drop” on easy. Get 100% in all three stages and when you get to the end of the third stage, click the “Next Round” button a ton of times. each time you press it, you’ll get experience towards your level. Click it as long as you have the patience for. (I imagine that they’ll fix this eventually)  😉  Follow this link to check out Home Sweet Home Online…
